Terms & Conditions

The short version.
Use the app, enjoy it, and keep what you write. Subscriptions renew themselves until you cancel them in your App Store settings. You can cancel at any time.
1. These terms
These terms are an agreement between you and the developer of mycoffeetales ("the app"). By downloading, installing or using the app you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the app.
The app is distributed through the Apple App Store. Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to your use of it, and where these terms and Apple's standard EULA disagree on the licence itself, Apple's terms govern.
2. Your licence to use the app
You are granted a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app on Apple devices that you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Service. You may not copy, sell, rent, redistribute, reverse engineer or attempt to extract the source code of the app, except where the law expressly allows it.
3. Subscriptions and renewals
The app requires a paid subscription. There are two plans: a monthly plan and an annual plan.
- Price. The price is the one shown in the app at the moment you subscribe, in your own currency, as reported by the App Store. Prices may change; a change never applies to a period you have already paid for.
- Automatic renewal. A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before that period ends.
- Billing. Your Apple ID is charged at confirmation of purchase and again within 24 hours before each renewal. Apple handles all billing. We never see or hold your payment details.
- Cancelling. You can cancel at any time in your device's Settings, under your Apple ID, then Subscriptions. Cancelling stops future renewals. It does not end the period you have already paid for, and it does not by itself entitle you to a refund.
- Refunds. Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us, under Apple's refund policy. We are not able to issue or refuse them.
- Restoring. If you reinstall the app or move to a new device, the app can restore an existing subscription from your Apple ID.
4. What you write is yours
Your coffees, your photographs, your notes and your coffee ID belong to you. We claim no licence over them and we have no way of seeing them. They are stored on your device, under your control, and deleting the app deletes them.
5. What we write stays ours
The app's own editorial content, meaning the stories, suggestions, words and illustrations it presents alongside your log, belongs to us and is provided for your personal use inside the app. It is general interest writing about coffee and coffee culture. It is not professional, dietary, medical or financial advice, and it should not be relied on as any of those.
6. Fair use
Please do not use the app in a way that breaks the law, interferes with Apple's services, or attempts to defeat the subscription system. We may end your licence if you do.
7. Availability and changes
The app is provided as it is, and it may change. Features may be added, altered or removed. We may also stop supporting the app entirely, though we would give reasonable notice in the app or on this site before doing so. Because everything is stored on your device, an app that is no longer supported still holds your writing, and we would aim to give you a way to get it out.
8. No warranty
The app is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the fullest extent the law allows. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error free, or that it will run on every device or every future version of iOS.
9. Limit of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses arising from your use of the app, including any loss of the content you have written into it. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Please keep your own backups. The app stores your journal on one device and does not sync it anywhere. Deleting the app, or losing the device, takes your journal with it. Note also that on the App Store, deleting an app does not by itself cancel a subscription.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [your jurisdiction], and the courts of that place have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country in which you live.
11. Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated from time to time. The date at the top of this page will change when they are. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.
12. Contact
Anything unclear here, or anything else, is welcome through the contact form on our website.
